Alan A. Fischer
Managing Partner

Alan A. Fischer is Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner of Fischer & Co. LP. Prior to forming Fischer & Co. LP, Mr. Fischer was President of the Charter Division of Wells Fargo Equipment Finance Inc., a diversified financial services organization. Mr. Fischer founded Charter Financial Inc. in 1982. He served as Charter Financial's CEO until it was acquired by the Wells Fargo Company in October 2000. Prior to founding Charter, Mr. Fischer founded Commercial Funding Inc., a diversified equipment finance and merchant banking company in 1973. Commercial Funding was acquired by the Nordic Group of Banks in 1982. In that same year, Mr. Fischer founded A.A. Fischer & Co., a multi-manager alternative investment specialist with a strategy of investing in innovative hedge fund products with consistent risk adjusted performance. The company has invested continually for its own account since inception. Mr. Fischer is a leading spokesman for the finance industry and has served in the merchant banking and finance industry for more than 40 years. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of the ELA (Equipment Leasing & Finance Association), where he has served in various leading roles for more than 20 years. Mr. Fischer holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics and English from the University College of Arts & Sciences of New York University and is also a recipient of an honorary doctorate from the Weizmann Institute of Science.


David Choe
Partner

David Choe is a Partner, Co-Portfolio Manager and a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee.  Prior to joining Fischer & Co., Mr. Choe was an Investment Analyst for UBS Global Asset Management (GAM) where he was responsible for selecting hedge fund managers and was the sole analyst for a portfolio of over $600MM in hedge fund assets.  He began his career at Salomon Smith Barney where he focused on selecting and monitoring investment managers for institutional defined benefit and defined contribution plans.  While at SSB, he engineered proprietary risk management, optimization and performance /attribution models.  Mr. Choe holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.


J.H. Cullum Clark
Partner

Cullum Clark is a Partner and member of the Firm’s Investment Committee.  He brings 13 years of investment experience as an equity stock picker and portfolio manager. Mr. Clark founded and manages the Prothro Clark family office. He directs the investment portfolios of numerous family entities into equities, hedge funds, structured derivative products, private equity, venture capital and real estate. The Prothro Clark Company has selected Fischer & Co. as the investment manager for the family’s alternative investments portfolio. From 2000-2002, he was the Managing Partner of Cimarron Global Investors, a global long short equity hedge fund focused on healthcare, technology and financial services. From 1996-2000, Mr. Clark was a Senior Analyst at Warburg Pincus Asset Management and Fund Manager of the Warburg Pincus Global Post-Venture Fund and the Warburg Pincus International Small Companies Fund. He began his career as a Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Mr. Clark is active in the Dallas community serving on several public and cultural institutions including the UTD Center for BrainHealth, the Vestry of St. Michael and All Angels Church, the finance committee of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, and the Eugene McDermott Foundation.  He holds a BA from Yale University, summa cum laude and an AM from Harvard University.


Jeff Bennett, CFA
Director of Research

Jeff Bennett is the Director of Research and focuses on hedge fund manager identification and due diligence. Prior to joining Fischer & Co., Mr. Bennett was the primary analyst at Summit Private Investments, a fund of hedge funds with $500 million under management that focuses on long/short and event-driven strategies. He was also a Senior Analyst at Princeton Brand Econometrics and a R&D Engineer at Space Systems/Loral. Mr. Bennett holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA in Analytic Finance and Econometrics from the University of Chicago.


Rebecca Meng, CFA, FRM
Vice President

Rebecca Meng is responsible for risk management and also focuses on hedge fund manager due diligence.  Prior to joining Fischer & Co., Ms. Meng was a Hedge Fund Analyst and Risk Analyst at Paradigm Consulting Services, LLC, an investment advisor specializing in hedge fund portfolio construction for institutional investors. At Paradigm, Ms. Meng was responsible for risk reporting and analysis of hedge fund managers and strategies. Before that, she was a Business Analyst / Accountant for Libertyview Capital Management, LLC, a multi-billion dollar multi strategy hedge fund. At Libertyview, Ms. Meng worked directly with the CFO and CTO to streamline and optimize hedge fund accounting systems and processes. She was also a Programmer / Analyst at Merrill Lynch and a Management Consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Meng holds an MBA in Finance and Statistics with distinction from New York University Stern School of Business, an MS in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a BBA in Accounting, Beta Gamma Sigma, from Baruch College of CUNY. Ms. Meng passed all three level exams for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and holds the Financial Risk Manager Certification.


Sourav Sengupta
Vice President

Sourav Sengupta is an analyst focusing on hedge fund manager identification and due diligence and also supports risk management. Prior to joining Fischer and Co., Mr. Sengupta was a Quantitative Analyst at Birkelbach Investment Securities Inc., a $300M Chicago based investment advisor. At Birkelbach, he conceptualized and developed a Matlab based investment platform as well as designed a customized VaR based risk assessment system.  Prior to Birkelbach, Mr. Sengupta was a Technical Engineer for the DELL Computer Corporation as well as a programmer for IBM’s Global Software Services division at Bangalore, India. Mr. Sengupta holds a ME from Pennsylvania State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University in India.


Karen Bowen, CPA
Controller / Chief Compliance Officer

Karen Bowen focuses on accounting, administration and operational due diligence. Prior to joining Fischer & Co., Ms. Bowen was Vice President and Operations Manager of Accounting and Administration at Bank of America, where she was responsible for maintaining the operational and administrative aspects of the $1.2B  Alternative Investment Solutions’ fund of hedge funds. Her responsibilities also included operational due diligence on underlying hedge fund investments, reviewing pricing methodologies of investments and acting as liaison with Front Office, Compliance, and Investor Services. From 2003-2005, she was the Senior Fund Accountant at Wyper Capital Management, LP, where she was in charge of monitoring the day to day operations and accounting of their hedge fund platform.  She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC in 2000, and was a Senior Associate in their Financial Services- Alternative Investments Group focusing on audits of hedge funds and fund of hedge funds.  Ms Bowen holds a Bachelors and Master of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University and was awarded the title of Certified Public Accountant from the New York State Board.



Sep Rabbani, EA
Accounting and Tax Manager

Prior to joining Fischer and Co., Mr. Rabbani spent ten years at Ernst & Young LLP in their Financial Services Group focusing on hedge funds, private equity firms and fund of hedge funds.  He began his career with the PCA, Leverage Buy Out Funds of Deloitte & Touche LLP where he was responsible for the accounting and taxation of investment and operating partnerships of the Funds. Mr. Rabbani holds a BS in Business/Economics from State University of New York at Oneonta and a Masters in Taxation from Long Island University. 


Jill Fischer
Vice President, Business Development

Prior to joining Fischer and Co., Ms. Fischer spent six years designing and implementing marketing programs, serving a broad base of corporate clients targeting the entertainment and media industries. Ms. Fischer’s experience in building and maintaining client relationships provides Fischer & Co. with the resources to better serve existing clients as well as the ability to broaden our business development efforts.  She has worked for leading media and entertainment companies both in Los Angeles and New York including: Vogue, E! Networks, Bragman, Nyman Cafarelli and Paramount Pictures. She is a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds. Ms. Fischer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan where she received multiple national and university awards for outstanding scholarship.


Anna Lui
Vice President – Investor Relations

Prior to joining Fischer & Co, Ms. Lui was a Vice President in Investor Relations and Marketing at Advent Capital, a $5Bn investment management firm. Prior to Advent, Ms. Lui was an Associate in the Corporate Derivatives Group at Morgan Stanley, and at JPMorgan where she was responsible for advising corporations on interest rate and foreign exchange risk management.  Ms. Lui holds a B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
